Fall Fashion 2010: The Leopard Trend

From the runways of Dolce and Gabbana and Dries Van Noten to Moschino and Mulberry the leopard print trend is everywhere! This is a trend that is kind of always in (in my opinion) but is especially hot right now.

Here is the inspiration:
 Dolce and Gabbana

 Moschino

 Balmain

Just Cavalli

Cavalli

Oscar de la Renta

Dries Van Noten
Christian Louboutin

Look:  leopard skirts, leopard dresses, leopard shoes, leopard scarves..... Just don't wear more than one piece at a time!!! This look can be a little tricky due to the fact that leopard can look cheap or too risque pretty easily. So stick to simple classic shapes- nothing too short or tight.

Make it 2010:  Instead of just the classic tan and black leopard we are used to, try a brightly colored leopard as seen on the runway of Mulberry. This is a trend that mixes well with other trends. Try incorporating it into your Ladylike 50's style with a leopard cardigan or into the fur trend with a leopard fur coat (fake of course!).

How I rock it:

This fuchsia leopard sweater dress is quite a loud piece so I like to keep the rest of the outfit simple. I wear it with black leggins, tall black boots, and my black leather jacket.
Goodwill on Powell Rd. at Polaris Pkwy. $4.99

This leopard print dress has a great classic 50's silhouette.
Goodwill on High St. $4.99

This leopard print cardigan sweater also has a nice classic shape but looks modern because of the gray, black and purple color palette. This can be paired with black jeans for a casual look or with a black skirt for a dressier look. I usually wear it over a fuchsia lacy lingerie inspired tank top and black jeans.
Forever21 $18.90

This adorable leopard print skirt is a great all year round piece. The picture shows it paired with a black tank  for a summer look. I also wear it in the colder months with thick black tights, a warm black sweater, and tall black boots. Goodwill on High St. $3.49

This is a great little date night top. I wear it with tight black skinny jeans and heels. It can be tied in the front or the back. Forever21 $15.90

This is a fake pony hair leopard belt with a gold buckle. It looks great over a black dress or with dark jeans and a black top. Goodwill on High St. $1.49

These velvety leopard ballet flats look great with so many things. I try to think of them as a neutral when I pair them with outfits for a more interesting look but they look great with a classic palette as well.
