Cute Outfit of the Day: Make It Work

top: Goodwill $3.99
leggins: Goodwill $1.99
shoes: Goodwill $3.99
bracelet: F21 $4.80
necklace: Goodwill $1.99
belt: Goodwill $1.99
Total Cost: $18.75

Isn't this top so much fun! Well, it was a little too big and drapey for my small frame so a little cinching of the sleeves with a safety pin and voila! A perfect fit AND an even more interesting shirt! When I like something from a thrift store I will do anything I can to "make it work"! I know many of you get a little intimidated when it comes to sewing something but this was such an easy fix anyone could do it!

Do you alter your clothes to make them fit better?

  6. I love this top! And pairing it off with the gold accessories make for a fun night out! And yes I do buy clothes that are too big and then try to alter it (ghetto- style usually). Usually, i buy skirts that are too large around the waist, but hold them up with a belt and fold the excess over. I wear long tops to cover up the fold! Easy and fuss free!

  9. I have plans to alter clothes...does that count? I'm like The Funky Junky above, I have a small pile of clothes, mostly all thrifted items, that are waiting to be altered. My husband, who knows upholstery, has promised to show me how to use a sewing machine on his next weekend off...which is coming up the weekend after next. Keeping my fingers crossed that it goes well.
