Spring Trend Alert: Peplum

Here is the inspiration:
Marc Jacobs

 Jason Wu
Zac Posen

And here is how I rock the Peplum trend:
top: Jason Wu for Target via Goodwill $4.99
belt: Goodwill $1.99
skirt: Merona for Target via Goodwill $4.99
shoes: Merona for Target via Goodwill $3.99
Total Cost: $15.96

This peplum top was part of the Jason Wu for Target collection. I affectionately call this my big bird top! If you take a look at the close up photo you will see why! And no, I did not rush to Target the day the collection was released and beat up some woman carrying a baby to get this top. I simply waited a few weeks and it showed up at my local Goodwill store and paid what most people paid just for the tax! Good things come to those who wait...patiently.

I am loving this trend! The little ruffle of fabric around the waist adds interest and little touch of femininity to any garment! And it can easily hide a little problem area around the middle! Who doesn't love that! Peplums can not only be on a top like mine but also skirts, dresses, even on the hem on a jacket.

Are you going to try the peplum trend in 2012?

  1. I'd like to try it! My high school prom dress was a peplum top and long skirt in a beautiful gold fabric. It might be short in the torso but I'm going to see if it still works. Here's to patience paying off!

  2. If I ever see someone wearing that shirt in person I may feel the need to rub them...it just looks so fluffy! (But I'm really not a weird people-toucher like that). Back to your question...I love the bit of ruffle on the bottom of a shirt, but don't think I could pull off the skirt in the model picture at top. Who wants extra fabric fluff on their hips?!

  3. Amazing find at Goodwill! I wish our store had things like that down here. I really liked that top from the collection, but it was the first to go from our store. LOL. I love your take on the peplum trend! Great look!
