Spring 2012 Trends Mash Up

Let's play a game! What do you get when you mix...
a Jean Paul Gaultier sleeveless jacket with...
a Dolce and Gabbana embellished top...
a Prada red pleated skirt and...

and some Christian Louboutin gold pumps?

A totally unique and fashionable look!
 jacket: Goodwill $4.99
top: Goodwill $3.99
skirt: Volunteers of America $2.99
belt: Goodwill $1.99
shoes: Goodwill $3.99
Total Cost: $17.95

But I prefer to do it for a little less $!

What do you think of my mash up of trends? Do you like to wear multiple trends at once or do you stick to one trend at a time?

  2. I really like your creation Lindsey! I just love your blog because it is so refreshing and it proves that you don't have to spend a fortune to look good and professional. I am a "thrifter" extraordinaire myself and the Lord has been convicting me of my spending habits under the pretense that it was soo cheap and I could not pass it up. I am still restraining myself and I go shop in my closet whenever I feel the urge to shop.I am embarrassed to say that there are some things in my closet I even forgot about. So, I wanted to know what you thought about that because the Holy Spirit revealed my greediness and the lack of self-control in this area of my life. I realized that it was still not a bargain if I really di dnot need it. All I was doing was filling my closet and hoarding my kids' closet as well. So, I decided to fast shopping because I reflected on what I spent at thrift stores, and it adds up for real. So, I am trying to remember that Saturdays are not shopping days and I could do more productive things like spending time with my husband and kids. Here in Southwest Florida, the Goodwills are incredible with brand new Target shoes and clothes and brand names with tags just like you find them in Ohio. So, I just wanted to pick your brain to know what you think about it and can you share any way to avoid shopping compulsively just because something is brand name and so cheap?

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words! I totally agree with you about things not being a bargain if you don't need them. I do struggle sometimes with letting shopping fill me up. And it is so easy with the blog to justify buying anything because "it's for the blog!" So I am continuously taking these issues to God and asking him to reveal my heart. I never want obtaining things to be more important than my relationship with God! I also have a rule when I'm shopping to only buy things that I really love and not just things that have a nice price tag! Oh, and be generous! All my friends know that my closet is their closet! Everything I have is a gift from God so I try to hold them loosely. If I can't fathom my life without something in my closet then that's not OK! And lastly, edit your closet often and get rid of stuff! Thanks for asking!
