My Studio

A while back I had a reader request to see my photo studio where I take all my pictures for the blog. So here it is:
This is the far end of our basement. This is my creative space! That doorway on the left is a bathroom.
I use two external flashes with umbrellas that are triggered by the external flash that I attach to the top of my camera. I hope that makes sense! I don't even really know what this stuff is called! It belongs to my brother! He just graciously lets me borrow it all! Thanks Dan!
I use a white tablecloth from Old Time Pottery as my backdrop. It hangs in front of a large closet where I keep overflow clothing and craft supplies.
This is the view from the other side, standing next to my desk
The view from behind the camera. Jill is pretending to be me! Oh no she's naked!
I don't know if you all care but this is my husband's side of the basement. He's a musician so this is where he keeps all his equipment. I just wanted everyone to know that he has creative space too, not just me!
This is the view from his side toward my side...
and this is the view from my side toward his side! As you can see my treadmill and the couch live in the middle to separate the spaces.
My desk. My sewing machine is underneath.

So this is where it all happens! Lots of creativity going on in this basement! It is so nice to have this space! Of course it's not done yet. I need to get some more pictures up on the walls! Also, I use a Canon 30D with a Tamron AF 17-50mm lense and a Canon Speedlite 430 EX 2 flash in case you were wondering! Picture quality is huge to me so I do my best to bring you the best photos I can! I am still learning though! Like my house, I am a work in  progress!

Have a great weekend! I am off to a cabin in the woods with my husband for our 11 year wedding anniversary! I am so excited!

  4. Our blog mottos are doppelgangers - I too love living fabulously (without sacrificing a thing) on a budget most people can get behind. You've got a very elaborate set up here; I just bribe my sister to take my photos ;)

I hope you have a great time in the cabin (one of my favorite pastimes, actually)

  6. WOW! This is amazing. Your indoor photos are fantastic and I'll be forced to take many indoor photos as it'll be too cold to go out doors. I've been thinking about getting umbrella lights...so you need 2 huh? Nice :)
