A New Life for an Old Dress

I found this dress last week at the Polaris area Goodwill. It is most likely from the 80's I would guess from the tag. I know it looks a little crazy but I immediately saw potential in this dress!
What in the world did I see in this dress, you ask?
Well, I was drawn to:
-the open back (all business in the front, party in the back)
-the bold tribal print
-the red and black color palatte

The big problem I saw in the dress was the length. I know maxi dresses are all the rage but this particular dress was just begging me to shorten it up! So I tacked up the bottom of the dress into a bubble hem to give it some fullness. Here is the after:
 dress: Goodwill $5.99
shoes: Goodwill $3.99
Total Cost: $9.98

So what do you think? Improvement?
I absolutely love this dress now! It might be my new favorite! I feel so edgy and elegant in this dress! Oh! and it has pockets! I love pockets!
