Closet Remodel Day 4

Thursday is Day 4 of the closet remodel! Things are moving right along! Dan started the day by applying the polyurethane to the floor of the closet. Since that needs some time to dry he switched gears to building the shelves that will go in the center of the closet.  He is building a bookcase-like tower of shelves that will go from floor to ceiling. Here is the play-by-play:
Dan started with a large sheet of MDF which stands for Medium Density Fiberboard. It is better for this project than plywood would be because it is solid wood so the edges look nice.
He cut out two 16in wide panels for the sides of the shelves
He used a router to cut out these notches to make everything fit together securely
He also used the router to cut out notches for the shelves to fit into the sides
This is one of the sides and the shelves
Dan putting it all together with his new nail gun

Pretty good day's work, I'd say! I work tomorrow so Dan will be on his own (not that he needs me!) I work a long 11 hour day tomorrow so I will be anxious to get home and see the progress! Oh! and I picked out a really pretty paint color for the inside of the closet. I'm going to leave that as a surprise though!
