Day Three of the closet remodel was all about laying the new floor. Dan set up this little station in the garageto cut the boards to size.
This is the old flooring. We will save it just in case.
Then I went to the gym and the grocery store and came back to see a floor!
He had all but the last piece installed. We were hoping it would fit perfectly but it didn't. So Dan then had to take the last board over to a friends house who has a table saw and cut it to size.
While Dan was working on the floor I painted the doors. They come primed and ready to paint. I went with a nice semi-gloss white. It was in the 90's outside so I had to set up a painting center in the dining room. It actually worked perfect!
With the last piece in place, Dan was able to start staining the wood. He used a Minwax stain in Golden Oak to match the rest of the flooring in the house.
And it matches pretty darn good! The stain has to dry for 8 hours so that puts an end to the work for Wednesday He still needs to put polyurethane on it which is Thursday's job.
Stay tuned there is more to come!

yes, keep that wood. Actually, if you don't use after . . . a long while, maybe I can have it? hehe Found an awesome idea for some DIY artwork . . http://theletteredcottage.net/diy-art-how-to I would suggest you do this, but it's not really your decor style . . .
