Cute Outfit of the Day: Modern Southwestern Prints

little black dress: thrift $7
scarf: thrift $4
purse: Forever 21 $25
earrings: Forever 21-gift $0
sunglasses: The Ohio State Fair $6.50
Kelsi Dagger wedges: T.J. Maxx $20
Total Cost: $62.50

This little black dress has been a go-to for me lately! It's so flattering and it's like a black canvas for whatever accessories I'm feeling on any given day! This is my favorite way that I've styled it so far so I had to share with you! I wore this on Sunday to church (Life Church Vineyard in Bexley, Ohio) and then to my birthday lunch with my family at Northstar!

I am also loving these new sunglasses I picked up at The Ohio State Fair last Friday. My husband and I have a really fun tradition of gong to the fair every year and buying sunglasses from this same booth! They sell there sunglasses 3/$20 which is such a great deal and they have a great selection of trendy frames. I was going to say we take turns who gets 2 pairs but really I think I have many more times than my hubby!

Pregnancy Update:
How far along?  I'm 17 weeks and 1 day now

Feeling?  still having migraines and occasional nausea in the evenings

Excited for?  can't wait to find out girl or boy in 2 weeks!

Weight Gain?  I have finally gained back the weight I lost while I was really sick and gained about 2 lbs

Other Symptoms?  lots of cramping! and peeing often of course!

Mood? pretty normal. strangely I actually think I feel more relaxed and less anxious than my pre-pregnant self. I think working less has helped a lot! Not really feeling unusually moody or emotional.. thankfully!

Sleeping?  pretty good when I'm not feeling crampy. Taking Unisom per my doctors recommendation which helps. Sill able to lay on my stomach comfortably which is nice!

Exercise?  Now that I'm feeling a little better I'm trying to get back to my normal exercise routine which was 4- 1hr classes per week. On Mondays I do 1 hr of Zumba and 1 hr of Yoga and the rest of the week I try to get out and walk for 30mins- 1hr when it's not too hot!

Movement?  not yet

Maternity Clothes? I haven't worn any yet but I've been shopping around for some cool and comfy jeans under $50. Any recommendations?

Cravings?  Trying to figure out what to eat is still not very fun. Looking at, smelling, or even just thinking about food still makes me feel a little queasy- (no Food Network for this gal!) That said, I really enjoyed a couple of corn dogs at the fair, my yellow cake with chocolate icing that my husband made for my birthday, most kinds of pasta, tacos, and I've been eating a ton of peaches!

Aversions?  I cannot stand the smell of campfire smoke or and foods that have been smoked!

Boy or Girl?  My husband and I have always wanted a girl. We have always talked about having a girl. We are probably only doing this once so that's why I'm pretty sure we will most likely have a boy. God has a sense of humor and I think he likes to throw us curve balls that teach us and refine us but ultimately we know that he knows best and whatever it ends up being will be amazing!

What so you guys think it will be? Boy/ Girl?

  1. I'm horrible at the guessing games. I was wrong with all of my kids. As for those boy/girl gender predictions--they were wrong for some of mine too. I have four kids--three boys and one girl. With my two older boys, I had nearly no pregnancy symptoms other than craving mashed potatoes from KFC with my second boy. My girl and my last boy were the most horrific pregnancies--aversions, super crazy morning sickness, sciatica, exhaustion and extreme weight gain. And yet, I carried all of my kids the same--high and round. So you never can tell.

But I'm going to guess boy. And you are right--we are oft given challenges like this in life. I am a really girly girl and wanted all girls. I ended up with three boys and my girl never let me do her hair or dress her up. But I wouldn't trade them for anything. They have taught me patience and flexibility and spontaneity.

  2. I love your LBD, it is cute. Crochet fabric with precious filigree, is fantastic. Finishing by the end of the dress is very beautiful. Birthday? Pregnant? Congratulations for both. Your followers will have a wonderful fashion mom.

  4. So funny! I NEVER ate peaches before I got pregnant but now I buy some EVERY week.

Also I love the way the whole outfit comes together. The scarf works great with the dress.

  5. My SIL got some cute maternity jeans for a great deal at Burlington Coat Factory. Not sure if you have those in Ohio but if you do it is worth a look. I also noticed that ThredUp has maternity clothes!

  6. I took the unisom too, starting at 10 weeks with the first and 7 weeks along with the second. I also added vitamin B6 per the doctor recommendation, do you take this too? My kids either got their easy dispostion from their father, or while their nervous systems were developing they had the lovely B6, which is calming to the nervous system (theirs and mine! B6 is a miracle vitamin)

    1. Yes, I have tried the B6 on several occasions and not only did it not help, I actually felt worse every time I took it! I've heard it had helped a lot of people though that's why I kept trying it but my body is just weird, I guess!

  7. Hi Lindsey! Congratulations! I've been following your blog for years and it's so exciting to see you transition to this new phase in life. The best advice I can give is ignore what everyone tells you and just ask your friend Alicia since she just had a baby or ask your mom. They're the best resources. The only tip I will give is to try drinking a smoothie. I didn't want to eat when I was prego and that was my go-to for a meal (because you can sneak in all kinds of good stuff). Again congraulations and I'm rooting for a boy!

  10. The only pair of maternity jeans I ever found comfy was from a brand called Cozy Maternity. Highly recommend. But for the winter months I mostly just stuck to leggings and tunics or sweater dresses.

  14. Congrats!! A baby will be such a blessed addition to your family. I meant to tell you you might want to look into going to a prenatal chiropractor. They are specialized into pregnant women. It will help with the migraines and also with hip and back pains (later on in the pregnancy) and helps with a smooth delivery because they allow for the blood to flow freely and to put every vertebrate in place lol. It worked for me. I did not have a single migraine for the rest of my pregnancy after the first visit. Then, felt even better after subsequent visits! God bless you and your family!
