My Guide to Exploring Nashville in 3 Days

As you might know went to Nashville last week for my birthday! We had such a great trip! I am officially in love with the Music City! In case you are curious about our trip or if you are planning your own Nashville trip here is what we did!

Sunday:
Check In
We chose to stay at an Air B n B place in East Nashville. We got this amazing space for only $75/night and we were only 2 miles from downtown! I would highly recommend staying in this newly renovated space hosted by Mike and Kate Loyco. The high end finishes and decor were absolutely gorgeous! Here is a link if you want to stay here!

Dinner at The Pharmacy Burger Parlor and Beer Garden
When you eat here request to sit on their amazing patio! The hamburgers were great- not the best we've ever had but definitely worth the trip!

Nightlife
 Station Inn
The Station Inn is a pretty casual joint- expect metal folding chairs and pitchers of beer. We saw this great group of bluegrass musicians!

Monday:
Breakfast at The Pancake Pantry
My hubby got the Blueberry Pancakes and I got the Apricot Lemon Pancakes. Both were really good but mine especially was a bit much with all the toppings- I scraped most of it off and then it was great! If I went back I would get something more plain and simple!

Explore Hillsboro and Vanderbilt University Area
BookMan & Bookwoman, Pangea
Such a cute little area! Take some time to walk around and stop in the shops!

Visit The Parthenon
Not much to do here but neat to see! You will definitely forget you are in Nashville. There is an art gallery inside but it was closed when we were there.

 Lunch at Jack's Bar-B-Que
I was a bit skeptical about this place as I'm pretty picky about my bbq but I loved it! They offer 3 different bbq sauces and I liked them all so much I couldn't choose a favorite! The line was long but well worth it!
The Ryman was the original Opry so there is just so much history in this place! It was super cool to see the wood floors where so many country music greats once stood!

Tour and Shop at Hatch Show Print
Such a cool place to visit! They make the advertising posters for the music shows. Every poster is truly a work of art and you can even purchase the prints!

Explore Downtown Nashville
Just park and walk!  Be sure to walk across the pedestrian bridge and see the amazing views of this lovely city!

Head to the 12 South area of Nashville

Coffee break at The Frothy Monkey
be sure to try their Monkey Mocha- hot or on ice the hint on banana makes this mocha highly addictive!

Back to Shopping
The 12 South neighborhood has some great shops! We went to Savant Vintage which had the best collection of vintage dresses I have ever seen but they were pretty pricey!
We also went to Katy K's Ranch Dressing! This store had a lot of great stuff but it was also really expensive! They had a lot of very similar items to things that I sell but they are selling for 3-4x what I charge! I'm just so used to thrift store prices!
other cute shops to visit: Imogene + Willie, and White's Mercantile

Dinner:
Saint Anejo
Try the guacamole with pineapple! It blew my mind! Best guac ever! I also had the Hibiscus Margarita which was the best cocktail I've ever had! Watch out for the habanero peppers in the pork tacos though- just saying!

Nightlife:
Bluebird Cafe
I wanted to go here because I watch the tv show Nashville and the Bluebird Cafe is in the show quite a bit! We had to wait for and hour and a half and the band was more blues than country which isn't my favorite  but it was really cool to see!

Tuesday:
Breakfast at Barista Parlor
Super cool place- but don't go here if you have a problem with "hipsters"! I was really excited to try the Bourbon Vanilla or the Whiskey Caramel latte but they didn't offer them in decaf. The only decaf option they had was tea which I got and it was good. We had the breakfast sandwich which I loved- but the biscuit was a little too rich for my hubby. Overall it was a cool experience but it was almost $30 for 2 drinks and 2 small sandwiches. But we are so glad we went because we ran into musician/ producer Butch Walker!
that's Butch behind the annoyed looking girl!

Head to Franklin
Franklin, Tennessee is about 25  minutes south of the city. It is such a picture perfect little town with great shops and lovingly restored turn of the century homes!

Shop in Downtown Franklin:
We stopped at 2 Goodwill stores while in Franklin! You know I can't visit any city without checking out their thrift stores! The Goodwill sores in Tennesee are great! Prices were about the same as here in Ohio $4 tops and skirts, $8 for dresses but they have much better sales! On Sunday and Wednesday the items with the color tag of the week are only $.99 and the rest of the week they are 50% off! I got several sale items while there! I can't wait to show you what I found on Friday!
lunch at Pueblo Real and  Paletas Tocumbo
yummy and cheap eats at Pueblo Real and you can not miss these amazing popsicles or paletas at Paletas Tocumbo- delicious! We got the food to go and ate outside in a church courtyard in downtown Franklin. It was lovely!

Explore Downtown Franklin
Philanthropy was my favorite store! There was so much to look at! It was all so beautiful from the clothes and accessories to the displays! I wanted one of everything!

Dinner at Silly Goose in East Nashville
I don't even know how to describe the food here to do it justice! Words like fresh, creative, and delicious come to mind! You just have to try it! We shared the Reba which was citrus & chili grilled shrimp, melon, mango, green papaya, lime, feta, and hot peanut dust, the Beebs which is braised and seared pork belly on sourdough toast with sweet corn mustard and peaches, and the Double AA which is warm couscous with raisins and almonds, summer squash, cauliflower, eggplant, red pepper, mushroom & sweet onion, warm couscous with raisins and almonds, summer squash, cauliflower, eggplant, red pepper, mushroom & sweet onion, goat milk yogurt sauce, fried chickpeas, green tomato chutney. Amazing! you can check out their menu- here

Nightlife
Roberts Western World
We went here for some good old country music and it did not disappoint! The bands were great!

Wednesday:
Breakfast at Marche'
The egg sandwich I  had here was one of the best things I've ever eaten! It was amazing because there was no bacon, no cheese, but it was so flavorful and delicious! I also got a wonderful vanilla latte and I loved the large "bowl" it came in!  Next time we come to Nashville I definielty want to try out their sister restaurant Margot!

Lunch at Mas Tacos Por Favor
After we packed up the car we could not leave without trying this former taco truck now restaurant! I'm so glad we didn't go here at the beginning of the trip because we may not have wanted to eat anywhere else! Do not go to Nashville without going to Mas Tacos!
As you can see we packed a lot into 72 hours! There is still so much more I want to do that I'm already planning our next trip to Nashville!

  1. Love Nashville! My in-laws live in Franklin. I Make it a point to shop those two Goodwills every time I go. I always find great stuff! There's also a local thrift store called our thrift store, the proceeds go to benefit people with disabilities. They always have a great things, the people working there really know their stuff!

  2. I love Nashville too! We went there for our honeymoon last year! Do you listen to the Bobby Bones show/WSIX via iheart radio? They are out of Nashville so listening to them makes me feel as though I am staying connected. :)

  4. Glad you had fun. I live in the East Nashville area, and we can't get out of here fast enough. We just bought a house with 13 acres about 45 minutes away. This city is driving us bonkers! So over it! But again -- glad you had fun. I'm hoping the city will seem more fun once it's a once-in-a-while thing for us, not 24-7. :)

  5. Awesome review! I am moving to Nashville next month (husband is already down there working) and can't wait to join him! We have family down there, and I've done tons of research, but you reviewed some things I hadn't even heard of yet! Silly goose sounds amazing and we will have to check out downtown Franklin. Philanthrophy looks so cool! Glad you had a good time.

  7. Right now it seems like BlogEngine is the preferred blogging platform available right now. (from what I've read) Is that what you are using on your blog?
