 Forever 21 sweater: thrift $4
scarf: Target (gift) $0
Express jeans: thrift $6
boots: thrift $1 (plus $12 for new heel caps)
Total Cost: $23

Happy Monday Everyone!
Hope you had a great weekend! My hubby and I went kitten shopping which was so much fun but also very stressful! I love all the kitties and I'm a terrible decision maker so it caused quite a bit of anxiety. After many hours and holding lots of cuties I decided of a handsome 5month old tuxedo cat. He just laid in my arms for the a really long time and seemed so content. We will get to bring him home soon! Don't worry, I'll post some pictures!

This is am outfit I wore on a date with my hubby. This sweater is so cozy but the boots added that needed date night glam! I can't believe these great vintage boots were only $1, can you?! All they needed were some new heel caps and now they're as good as new! I was super excited to find these cute high waist Express jeans recently from the thrift store for only $6! I love the buttons and the details at the waist! I added the scarf for a little pattern mixing just to make the outfit a bit more interesting!

  8. Love the outfit especially the sweater/scraf combo. Hope to get some comments to this question. As someone who loves to thrift especially since I am losing weight (35lbs so far), thrifting helps me save money on clothes as my size gets smaller. Someone recently told me she thinks that I stealing from poor people by shopping at Thrift stores. Anyone else who "thrifts" ever received a comment like this?

    1. Tammy, many of us are only financially stable because we do thrift. I have two kids, who thankfully aren't growing at lightning speed, but I still thrift. Between fuel, groceries and health insurance & medical costs, we are on a much tighter budget than 5 years ago, even with the same jobs making more money. We live in a modest home and only have one car payment, so we are thrifty in many ways.

    2. Oh and as you shrink out of the clothes you buy at thrift stores, I suspect you donate them to be thrifted again.

    3. You are in no way "stealing from poor people". By shopping at thrift stores you are 1)reducing the amount of items sitting in landfills 2)supporting a small business or 3)supporting those in need when shopping at a charity/nonprofit thrift store. In reality, you are giving back rather than stealing.

    4. Hi Tammy! Very interesting question! I have to agree with Lyz and MommySpice on this one though. Besides, I think there are enough nice clothes at the thrift stores for everyone to have their fair share!

    5. Thanks MommySpice, Lyz and Lindsey for the feedback. My husband and I have good jobs, we also have a disabled daughter with high health care costs, so thrifting has been a way that I can make the most of our money. Lindsey, Since reading your blog I've been on the look out for vintage sequined tops. I found a black one last night at a local thrift store for $4. Can't wait until it fits me!! Love your blog and your new kitty is adorable!

  10. Lindsey, I've followed your blog for a over a year now and love it. You made me laugh with the high waisted jeans statement. Although I can't see the top of them, they don't appear to be as low as many, but they aren't high in comparison to where a person's "natural waist" is. Love seeing your finds and how you style them.

    1. Thanks! They aren't really that high waisted just more so than most these days!
