Cute Outfit of the Day: Layered Jackets

coat: vintage via Volunteers of America $3.99
 jacket: Goodwill $3.99
top: Goodwill $3.49
jeans: Banana Republic $5.99
shoes: vintage via Volunteers of America $3.99
earrings: Forever 21 $4.80
Total Cost: $26.25

This is what I wore on Sunday. I left my coat on for a few pictures because I wanted you all to see this great thrift store find! I don't wear  blazers a lot in the winter because there is the issue of getting a coat to fit over it comfortably. This particular blazer is really thin and this coat has a nice deep v-neckline so the jacket fit underneath without crushing the collar. Perfect!
I say all this because I got an email this morning from Chictopia.com (great street style inspiration site!) about how you can rock the 2012 Fall trends right now! The first trend was layering jackets. I thought WOW! I just did this yesterday and I didn't even know it was cool! Go me!

Here are some other pictures of this trend:

What do you think of this trend? Why not rock next winter's trends this winter!

Cute Outfit of the Day: Marc Jacobs Purse for $10

sweater: Banana Republic Merino wool via Goodwill $3.49
skirt: Worthington via Goodwill $3.99
shoes: Goodwill $3.99
purse: Marc Jacobs via a clothing swap $10
clutch: vintage via Goodwill $1.99
belt: Express via Goodwill $1.99
Total Cost: $25.45

This is my new skirt from the Goodwill Grand Opening. It was my #1 pick from my Cool Picks rack. Since I was busy working the room that day my bestie Alicia came and bought it for me! She's so sweet! She got some cool stuff for herself too! Well, anyway, I already love all things graphic black and white and the line down the center of this skirt is so slimming which makes me love it all the more!

I can't believe I've never featured my Marc Jacobs purse before! I got it at a clothing swap a few years back. It was the swap of the century! I got the purse and all she wanted was a vintage coat of mine that I paid $10 for! Crazy!

Then I took away the clunky handbag and added a clutch to take this outfit from the office to dinner with one simple switch!

Cute Outfit of the Day: Color Blocking for Dummies

 jacket: Goodwill $3.99
 top: Goodwill $3.49
jeans: F21 $15
boots: Volunteers of America $3.99 (plus $6 for new heel caps)
necklace: F21 $7
headband: H&M $3.99
Total Cost: $43.46
I love the layers of color in this outfit! There are three stripes of color on the top then the jeans and the boots continue those colors and essentially make two more stripes. This is color blocking at it's most simple! It's like color blocking for dummies! It doesn't get any easier than this, folks!

Hooray for Vest Dresses

So you have probably heard me talk about Vest Dresses before. Yes, I made that name up! They are essentially just sleeveless suit jackets. Well, I am kind of obsessed with them right now. It all started on a Goodwill shopping trip with my brother. Ok, he actually made up the name! And now about a month later, I am the proud owner of 5 of them! They were all between $4-5. Here they are:

While cruising through Pinterest the other day I came across this lovely picture and now I feel so justified in my obsession! A Vest Dress on the Spring 2012 Runway!
Rachel Zoe Spring 2012 Runway

Then with a little searching I found this:
Givenchy Spring 2012

And here are some you can buy:
Topshop $78- very similar to mine but a lot more expensive!
 Asos $125

And some more inspiration:

Doesn't matter what you call it- Sleeveless Jacket, Tuxedo Vest, Sleeveless Trench or Vest Dress it's definitely a fun look to give a try!
What do you think? Feeling the urge to cut the arms off all your jackets yet?
