Thrift and Shout on the News: Coats Segment

Every 4th Monday I have the privilege of being on Fox 28 news' Good Day Columbus at 9:45am. I bring 3 models and dress them and me head to toe in clothing from the thrift store. This month the topic was coats and outerwear. Here are the outfits I put together:
Christen Nelson, Sara Carlisle, Me, and Heather Evans

Sara
Coat: Volunteers of America $2.99
Target dress: Goodwill $4.99
scarf: Goodwill $2.99
Via Spiga heels Goodwill $3.99

Christen
Gap faux fur jacket: Goodwill $4.99

Heather
Espirit coat: Goodwill $7.99
Target top: Salvation Army $2.99
H&M jeans: Goodwill $4.99

Target bomber jacket: Goodwill $4.99
top: Goodwill $3.99
boots: Goodwill $3.99

The weather is turning colder so now is the time to start looking for coats at the thrift store! Get them now so you are ready and so you get first pick! I see great coats all the time while thrifting! Sometimes they need dry cleaned but it's still a good deal to get a coat for $5 and pay $10 to get it cleaned! And don't forget to check the kids section if you are on the smaller side. The coat Sara is wearing is from the kids section at Volunteers of America!

  4. My biggest "scores" have come from the coat department but I've never considered checking out the girls' section! I'll send my husband your way when he starts complaining that he's being squeezed out of the coat closet - again. Heheh.

  11. This is my first visit to your blog, and I love it! So cool that you have that television gig (I'm in radio myself). I'm so impressed with your Goodwill finds...I don't seem to have much luck at Goodwill, but I admit I don't go there on a regular basis.

    By the way, you're gorgeous!

  12. I love your tv segments! I wish I could actually watch them.

I find coats to be fairly easy to find thrifting, altho sometimes they can be expensive! I really like your bomber coat. I have always wanted one like that but I'm just not sure if I will get enough wear out of it.

  13. I'm amazed at the low prices you paid for these coats. You've certainly shown a side of fashionable that doesn't require that you spend a lot of money.

  16. That's so cool! You're like, famous! :-) I lived in Ohio for 2 years and was thinking that I would have seen your news segment if I was still there...but then I realized that I was in Akron and probably wouldn't get Columbus news! Really great coats btw!

  17. The coat section is one of my favorites at the thrift store. I've scored some really great outerwear at rock bottom prices. In fact, I don't think I will ever buy another piece of outerwear at retail price again. And I have that same Target bomber-I got it on super clearance!
