Cute Outfit of the Day: Fall 2012's Velvet Trend

 jacket: Goodwill $3.99
The Limited top: Goodwill $3.99
necklace: Goodwill $2.99
pants: Old Navy $20
J.Crew shoes: Goodwill $3.99
clutch: thrifted gift $0
 Total Cost: $34.96

This is the first true Fall outfit I've posted. I'm totally not done with the summer clothes but I got this gorgeous velvet blazer and I was really anxious to try it out! Velvet is a big trend for Fall 2012 and I am so excited because I love velvet! I think the biggest tip I can give you for wearing velvet and not looking totally 80's is DO NOT wear a white button up blouse with your velvet! Also, stick to one piece per outfit. Although runways showed full velvet suits that is a hard look for regular people to pull off.

Do you plan on rocking velvet this Fall/Winter?

  2. I'd LOVE to wear velvet this summer and have been looking for a velvet blazer for the past few months. No luck so far, but I did find a velvet skirt I'd like to try. Hopefully it'll work for me.

Your blazer is so great; great texture and the color is just gorgeous on you.

  4. Also, avoid wearing a turtleneck with your velvet blazer. -Weird pet peeve and, surprisingly, I know a lot of offenders in my circle.-

I agree with Dossome that this look is absolutely fantastic on you. You are workin' that color and the cargoes are a perfect pairing.

  9. I love that velvet jacket especially with the texture, great fall find. The necklace is so pretty, I never find good jewelry at the thrifts, always kind of expensive where I live, 6-10 dollars usually. Great deals!

  12. How funny i've ran into a blazer just like that at a couple of my Goodwills (originally from Ann Taylor Loft) but there's always been something wrong with it that didn't make it work (wrong size, stained). So i'm very jealous! This color looks beautiful with your hair!
