purse: Goodwill $2.99
shoes: Goodwill $3.99
Total Cost: $11.97
This is a traditional Chinese dress popular in the 1930's called a Cheongsam. This is the second one I have found at the same Goodwill and they both appear to be handmade. The first one is a super cool shiny lavender color- you can see it here. This one is a more traditional Chinese printed fabric but they are both equally amazing in my book!
I have to be honest and tell you I wore this dress for the photos and I will probably never wear it again because it is so tight I can barely move or even breathe! I had to laugh because when I was researching the history of these dresses it said that a woman designed them because what they were wearing to work was too uncomfortable! What were they wearing- straight jackets?! I wish it was a little more comfortable because I think it would be great to wear on a date or to a wedding. But, I would have to loose about 10 lbs in my booty area and that is not going to happen because I kinda like my curves!
I also love that Lady Gaga is embracing her new fuller figure! It doesn't mean that you never diet or exercise. It just means that you love your body no matter what!
Do you embrace you body's shape or to you constantly get down on yourself about it?
A Little Bit of Laquer

Ehm please do wear this dress to a party or something like that... you look fabulous in it! It deserves to be taken out for a night on the town :) I think loving your body no matter what is a great mindset. I love my curves as well :)
ReplyDeletelooks awesome! especially with your hair! Wow, I can't believe the Goodwill deals you find - so great! Our Goodwill is so expensive- I actually can buy new clothes cheaper at Target. Even the Target stock they get it marked up from Target's clearance prices! Crazy.
ReplyDeleteFits you like a glove! You look amazing! Love that color with your hair, too.

ReplyDeleteOMG this dress was made for you! Seriously...the colour of your eyes, with the dress and your hair. It is such a shame that it is uncomfortable. I love the whole outfit. This is going to make it to my Friday Top Five : )

Wow you are a knock out and I agree to bad it is uncomfortable. You should some alteration done on the dress !
DeleteI have a cheongsam...but it's made of stretchy fabric, which is the key to making it much more comfortable, I think! Still, yours looks gorgeous!

What a cute dress! I just found your blog and I also love to shop at the thrift store! You have some amazing finds. Looking forward to feature outfits :)
ReplyDeleteHow BEAUTIFUL is this dress, Lindsey! I've always wanted to wear a cheongsam and I've been in the search for one for a while. I have seen some at the thrift stores but unfortunately never on my size. The color and the print is just gorgeous and you look as glamorous as those actresses I used to admire from the Chinese movies!

That dress looks gorgeous with your hair color. What a fortunate find!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous dress! You're s right about the fit, though. Whether it's the design or the fabric this style of dress is so constricting. My sister got one in Chinatown to wear to her senior prom way back in the day. Let's just say that it needed some alterations, ha ha.
